Novel PET Radiotracers
& Their Common Clinical Applications
Following service commencement of in-house hospital cyclotron in January 2019, our patients are now provided with a comprehensive range of positron-emitting radiotracers, including not only F18-FDG but also latest radiotracers such as C11-Acetate, F18-PSMA, F18-FDOPA, C11-PIB etc. Please refer to below table for details.
Together with the department’s two PET-CT and one PET-MR scanners, a new series of examinations are available to both oncologic and neurological patients. The C11-Acetate and F18-FDG dual tracers PET scan provides the most advanced and comprehensive assessment for liver cancer patients. F18-PSMA provides a more accurate diagnosis for patients with prostate cancer while C11-PIB and F18-FDOPA provide diagnostic insight for management of patients with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease respectively.
