Launch of New Radiopharmaceutical [18F] Florbetaben (FBB) for Amyloid PET Scan Services

We are pleased to announce that our Cyclotron Pharmaceutical Centre will launch the new radiopharmaceutical Neuraceq® (¹⁸F Florbetaben, hereinafter “FBB”) to replace ¹¹C Pittsburgh Compound-B (“¹¹C PiB”) for amyloid PET investigations of dementia, starting on 1 March 2025. Additionally, the improved yield and longer half-life significantly shorten the waiting time for amyloid PET-Scan appointments in our department, offering enhanced efficiency and convenience for both patients and referring doctors.

This innovative radiotracer also greatly facilitates the management of Alzheimer’s disease, particularly for patients eligible for the novel disease-modifying monoclonal antibody treatments recently introduced in our Hospital. With these advancements, our Hospital now provides comprehensive care for Alzheimer’s disease patients from state-of-the-art diagnosis to targeted anti-amyloid therapy.
